General

Q: What is the Rubber City Race Series?

A: The Akron Marathon is proud to announce the launch of the Rubber City Race Series for 2015. Featuring two new race dates June 27th & August 15th, every event will include the same world-class treatment you’ve come to expect from the Akron Marathon over the past 12 years. Best of all, the Series is designed to coincide with training benchmarks and will include cumulative scoring and incentives leading up to our marquee September race on September 26th.

Q: Are there runner premiums for participating in the Series?

A: The first 250 runners registered for the Rubber City Race Series will receive a limited edition Rubber City Race Series In-Training short sleeve Asics technical shirt.

Q: What are the race dates of the Rubber City Race Series?

A: Saturday, June 27, 2015 – 8k and 1-mile
    Saturday, August 15, 2015 – Half Marathon and 10k
    Saturday, September 26, 2015 – Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay

Q: Is there a minimum age requirement?

A: The minimum age varies by race.

   8k – 12 years old
   1 mile – 8 years old
   10k – 12 years old
   Half Marathon – 16 years old
   Marathon – 16 years old
   Team Relay - 14 years old

Q: After registering will I receive additional information?

A: Yes, we will send emails leading up to race day with additional information to help you get ready for race day. Final instructions are sent 2-weeks prior to the race via email and are also posted on the website. When registering please provide your primary email address.

Registration

Q: Will there be a discount and/or perks if I register for all 3 events?

A: Yes. All series finishers will receive a commemorative Rubber City Race Series medal. Series packages will be offered at a discounted rate.

Q: Can I register for each race individually and still participate in the Series?

A: Yes. You will need to contact the Akron Marathon office via phone or email and notify us that you have registered for all three events.

Q: I was injured after registering for the Series. Can I get a refund or defer until next year?

A: No – there will be NO refunds or deferments. We incur fixed costs for each runner based on registration numbers. As a result, we are not able to allow any refunds.

Q: Will you mail or email a confirmation to me?

A: Once you register online, you will receive a confirmation email immediately from Active.com.  Please provide your primary email address.

Scoring

Q: Will there be a scoring system used in the Series?

Q: Will each race be scored individually?

A: Yes, participants will be given a score for each completed race.

Q: Do I have to participate in all three races to participate in the Series?

A: Yes, runners must finish all three races to participate in the Rubber City Race Series.

Q: If I sign up for the series but am unable to make it to one of the races, will my other scores still count in the Series scoring?

A: No, runners must finish all three races in order to participate in the Rubber City Race Series.

Awards

Q: If I complete all 3 events will I receive anything special?

A: Yes, all series finishers will receive a commemorative Rubber City Race Series medal.

Q: Will there be series awards?

A: Yes, prize money will be awarded to the top 3 overall male and female participants in the series. The top male and female in the masters division will also be awarded.  Additionally the top male and female in each age division will receive an award. Age groups: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+. You can win only one award.

Q: Can I win double awards (overall and age group)?

A: No. You can only win one award. There is no double dipping for awards either in cash or age group awards. You will be awarded the highest dollar award.

Q: What age is Masters?

A: You must be at least 40 years of age on race day.
